Bleikeller cellar

For lovers of gruesome matters, visit to the mysterious “Bleikeller” (lead cellar) should be of some interest. Exit the dome via the dome staircase and keep to your left toward the east-side. There, in one of the supplementary buildings you will find six mummified bodies from the 17th and 18th centuries, in open caskets.
They assume that the name “Bleikeller” (lead cellar) originated from the fact that the former East crypt of the dome was used to store the lead needed to make roofing repairs on the dome.
