London Churches

On 2 September 1666, the Great Fire of London broke out and devastated around four-fifths of the buildings within the medieval City of London. Sir Christopher Wren was instrumental in replacing over 50 of the lost churches as well as providing us with the world-famous St. Paul’s Cathedral.
On this walk through the ancient streets of London, you will discover not only the majesty and history of St. Paul’s but also visit Wren's other elegant and understated masterpieces. Along the way, you will learn about his extraordinary career and see some of the churches which inspired the English Nursery Rhyme “Oranges and Lemons”! The tour will finish with three pre-fire churches at the edges of the city that were lucky to escape the inferno and now co-exist with some of the most stunning modern architecture to have been unveiled in recent years.
London: Dynamic Soho

Soho is the colourful and cosmopolitan heart of London! The home of Carnaby Street in the swinging sixties, sex and sleaze in the 70’s, and the media and cafe society of the 90’s. Some of the sites still exist, while others have been left as preserved ruins. One, Shakespeare’s Globe, has even been reconstructed in painstaking detail to replicate the original.
The walk takes in all aspects of Southwark’s history, but especially concentrates on its most colourful era when it was the backdrop to the shady world of Elizabethan entertainments. You will hear the history of the sites, the characters who populated them and some of the gorier details of life in Shakespearian London. You will also walk across the Millennium Bridge for some spectacular views and finish the tour at the magnificent St. Paul’s Cathedral.
